Kriterion Sarajevo


YUA supports the founding of the first art house cinema of the Bosnian capital Sarajevo. The name of the project is Kriterion Sarajevo and is inspired by Kriterion in Amsterdam. This cinema is over 60 years succesfully runned by students for more than 60 years. YUA has worked hard to round up a network of students and young people in Sarajevo, who work together on the founding of Kriterion Sarajevo.

Kriterion Mitrovica

After the success of Kriterion Sarajevo, YUA started to work in Mitrovica in the summer of 2011. Mitrovica is a politically unstable city in Kosovo with many young people and students, high unemployment rates and not many cultural activities or venues so far. In the whole of Kosovo, a majority of the people (>50%) is under 30 years old and over 60% is unemployed.

More than enough reasons for YUA to get involved and explore possibilities to set up sustainable cultural youth projects with young people in Kosovo. Supported by SPARK, YUA aims to develop cultural facilities and to provide motivated students with job opportunities and a place to gain work experience and strengthen entrepreneurial skills.

YUA-BKB Academy


Inspired by the BKB Academy in Amsterdam, YUA and BKB (Booij, Klusman and Van Bruggen) started an international academy for young talented people, with Sarajevo as a homebase. Trainingweekends are organised 5 times a year. The trainings contain interactive workshops and examples of topics are: political campaining, presentation skills, networking, fundraising and European politics.
