Belgrade

In 2011 YUA was contacted by a group of students from Belgrade to open a Kriterion. Nice detail: this time the group of youngsters was not inspired by Kriterion Amsterdam but by the brand new Kriterion Sarajevo.

One of the many beautiful empty venues in Belgrade

A group of around 10 students is working on a market and business research, expanding their network, and looking for possible venues in town. Belgrade is a vibrant city with just under 2 million inhabitants and many cultural initiatives. There is a craving for employment possibilities for students however, and often cultural initiatives lack a self sustainable business plan behind it. The cultural entrepreneurship aspect of Kriterion, together with the youth employment structure could therefore be a perfect match for the Belgrade students.

Supported by the Dutch Embassy a first peer to peer training between Sarajevo and Belgrade was organized in November 2012. YUA was there to train the group of students in market research. Kriterion Belgrade is now looking for support by the local autohorities, visiting different venues and doing their market research to define what Kriterion Belgrade could or should look like in the future.
